Meeting 319 -Lunch at the Woody Nook at Woodcote

The Woody Nook Restaurant is situated overlooking the village green in Woodcote.
On a very sunny but cool Sunday, some 28 members of the Branch enjoyed an excellent meal provided by Michel Rosso and his staff.
We started with Vachiron & Clerc Blanc de Blanc Brut as an aperitif and then sat down to a three course meal with an ample choice of food for each course.
Wine was sourced from the Woody Nook Vineyards in Margaret River in Western Australia.
The food, provided by Chef Stuart Shepherd, was excellent and varied,
although the helpings proved to be quite a challenge throughout.
Michel's staff were especially efficient and cheerful.
Altogether a relaxing and most enjoyable experience.
Menu
Cream of leek and potato soup, almond and parmesan biscuit
Game terrine, elderflower jelly and classic Cumberland sauce Smokies.
Baked smoked haddock/ tomato, nutmeg, cheese and cream.
Parma ham with pear poached in red wine, creamed Barkham Blue cheese.
(V) Roasted pepper, caramelised red onion and goats cheese parcel, rocket leaves and balsamic syrup.
Roast turkey with all the trimmings (chipolata bacon roll, cranberry sauce, herb stuffing, gravy).
Slow-roasted shoulder of lamb, minted Madeira sauce.
Pan-fried River Nile perch, chive mashed potato, shellfish cream sauce.
Crispy duck leg confit, thyme flavoured butternut squash, wild mushroom sauce.
Selection of local cheeses, fruit chutney, water biscuits.
Homemade Christmas pudding, brandy sauce.
Warm chocolate fondant, pistachio ice cream, Suchard sauce.
Vanilla creme brulee, rum and raisin ice cream.
Coffee and mince pie.
